Memory chips for the next computer generations

Lambert Alff tames lightning, even if only microscopically small. With the help of discharges, the professor hopes to produce memory chips for computers that can calculate simultaneously. “This is the next revolution in computer technology,” says Alff. With his team from the Department of Materials and Geosciences at the TU Darmstadt, he has recently made an important contribution to this and has published a paper on the subject, together with the group of Professor Leopoldo Molina-Luna, who is researching next door.
